After 54 hours of ‘no talk, all action’, Useedu have won Startup Weekend London Education with their solution for turning dead time into learning time with whiteboards and projectors.
In second place was Word Wars’ solution for combating ‘Word Poverty’ through an app for secondary school students. In third Eduudle with their ‘Expedia’ like directory for online courses. An honorable mention from the judges went to Musomic- a mashup of music and comic books to inspire children to get creative.
The competition was really hot, with many teams building functional live demos of their product ideas, taking them from 1 minute pitch to fully functional business in just 54 hours.
Useedu win the array of prizes from our generous sponsors: Learning Without Frontiers, The Assignment Report, Bootlaw, Cloud 66, MediaCore, Lucraft, Hodgson & Dawes, and Plymouth University. Together this forms a package of support, resources and opportunities for this nascent startup to get a foothold in the world of business and hopefully make a lasting impact on the world of education.
For the winners, and all the teams, this frantic weekend of work and learning has already left such an impression. Businesses have been formed, contacts made, as well as friendships. Keep an eye on all the teams who presented tonight, and keep following the Startup Weekend London story here…
